Motorola faced the need to efficiently monitor and manage the critical infrastructure that supports 911 emergency service communications. This infrastructure included servers, network devices, UPS, generators, and other components essential to the uninterrupted operation of the network.

Solution

Through a collaboration with iTop, two key solutions were implemented:

  • SABIXX: A complete monitoring system for the entire 911 service communications infrastructure, which allowed for real-time monitoring of servers, network devices, UPS and generators. This solution ensures that all critical elements supporting the emergency service are under constant surveillance.
  • iTop: A centralized ticket management platform that allows for the tracking of incidents and requests. This tool was crucial for the management and resolution of problems in the software and applications that support the 911 network. In addition, a feature was added that allows for detailed monitoring of the status of police vehicles.

Integration with other systems

Thanks to the iTop API, efficient integration with other systems was achieved, allowing iTop to function as an information backend for peripheral systems. This integration facilitated better interoperability between different technological solutions, optimizing internal processes and improving the capacity to respond to incidents.

Results

The implementation of these solutions enabled more efficient management of critical infrastructure, ensuring that the 911 service operates without interruptions. The iTop ticketing system has facilitated the management of incidents and requests, improving resolution times and visibility into the status of police resources and vehicles.
